Ignore the Social Media Experts – A Smart Email Marketing Strategy is Still King

Too many people, who are thought to be social media “experts”, have got it all wrong. And regrettably when individuals read blogs, read the news or pay attention to their acquaintances, they believe that email marketing is dead and that the new kid in town is Social Media (you know, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc). While these “new kids” are here, what you need to do to make extra revenue for your company is an email marketing strategy.

Now I am not saying that these social media websites are not helpful and key, but at this moment, these sites can’t beat email. And I think, as well as many others, that social media will ever replace email, especially in business dealings.

As I am sitting here at my desk writing this item, I have come to realize that all too many individuals have taken the hook, line & sinker and all but thrown out email as a marketing tool as they look towards the future. These news reports and blogs are providing you with half truths and that misinformation may cost you a lot of money.

You see although social media web sites are important, nothing comes close to the relationship building capability and the ROI that email provides. The largest issue with these articles is that they are dealing with personal use of email, not business use. Disappointingly, in the media, it all gets grouped together and makes it seem that email has lost its mojo and is no longer useful. It could be no further from the truth. Having an email marketing strategy is what is going to move your business in front of your competition and improve your profit, not using social media sites (although these websites have their uses).

Let us separate the email discussion from individual use of email to company use of email, particularly for those companies that want to correspond & build a trusting association with their clients and prospects and improve sales. It is this use of your business that email is king. Let me explain why.

  1. Email is cost effective and offers a high return on your investment.
  2. Email offers you with a large quantity of metric data.
  3. Email can be (and should be) authorization based.
  4. Email is simple to execute.
  5. Email is highly targeted.
  6. Email is a great relationship builder.
  7. Email gives a high response rate.
  8. The Email file you develop is an asset.

The time is, at this instant, for you to grow your company. Don’t let a new day go by where you are stuck in a rut. You should do what is required immediately to take your company to the next level and having an email marketing strategy is the way to do it.
