I struggle with keyword research. Maybe you also do? I can find lots of them. I have a problem finding good ones.

When I used Google’s keyword tool I trusted the results 100%. Why wouldn’t I? Big company like that shouldn’t be giving false figures. Well, it turns out the figures aren’t always right.

The results you see are not always correct, far from it. But it will have been spot on at some time. I discovered the answer almost by pure chance.

I homed in on a key phrase with roughly 5000 competing websites. I was feeling confident enough to rank well with this one. I started banging articles out left right and centre. Hundreds in fact.

Soon after I noticed Google telling me there was about 9000 competing pages now. I could hardly believe that. Had there been some mistake? Turned out though that an awful lot of the extra competing pages had my articles on them!

What I’m saying is that I would have left it alone had I saw over 9000 competing sites. Turns out I was competing mostly against myself as my article was the cause of these sites ranking. A good result all round in my opinion.

I got lucky on that keyword but I suspected I may not get lucky again so I made the decision to try out a keyword research service. I was looking to get some decent keywords delivered on a daily basis. I had figured that the daily cost against how much work I would save is value for my money.

I chose to give Travis Sago’s Instacash keyword research service a go. Travis being at the top of the bum marketing pile. Bum marketing only costs my time so it’s my kind of marketing.

If I can get a keyword or two in my in box each day then that saves me valuable time. At least a two hour saving. And a couple hours work is pretty valuable to me. If I put the time saved up against the daily cost it shows clearly there’s value to be had.

All the big marketers bang on about outsourcing. I reckon there’s not much difference here. Outsourcing my keyword research to someone else.
